Northamptonshire Steelbacks will take on Leicestershire Foxes in the 2022 Vitality Blast. The game will be played at The County Ground, Northampton starting at 18:30 local time on Wednesday June 1st.
Northamptonshire Steelbacks were unable to complete their fixture against Notts Outlaws on Monday evening after wet weather at Trent Bridge ended the game after 18 overs. Prior to that match they had been thrashed by 125 runs (DLS) by Birmingham Bears and had beaten Durham by 31 runs. Against Notts Outlaws, Australian pace bowler Matthew Kelly was particularly impressive, dismissing Joe Clarke, Ben Duckett, Samit Patel and Steven Mullaney. Ben Sanderson and Freddie Heldreich both picked up a dismissal each.
Leicestershire Foxes lost their opening two matches to Durham by 54 runs and to Derbyshire Falcons by 70 runs but bounced back to get their first win of the campaign at Headingley against Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Foxes recovered from 51-4 to post 188-7. Captain Colin Ackermann and Rishi Patel both scored half-centuries in the middle-order. Afghanistan quick bowler Naveen ul-Haq then took 3-34 as Yorkshire were restricted to 157-9.
